Essential Screenings

It makes good health sense to discuss with your health care provider about health screening tests. Some tests that are done at The Women's Center of Orlando, such as Pap tests or breast exams, should be a routine part of every woman’s health care. Other tests might be necessary based on your risk factors. Proper screening won’t always guarantee a positive outcome, but the earlier a disease or other health challenge is discovered the better the chance of overcoming it.

Getting the right screening test at the right time is one of the most important things men and women can do for their own personal health. Screenings make early detection more probable and with early detection, we find diseases not only easier to cure but also easier to treat.

Effective screening programs have saved the lives of breast and cervical cancer patients for many years. Mammograms, 3D and 2D, can help detect breast cancer early and greatly improve the chance of surviving this terrible disease. Recommendations for mammography screening vary by age so The Women's Center health care providers engage in the discussion with its patients whenever it is appropriate. The Women's Center encourages our patients to have their annual Pap test starting three years after becoming sexually active, or by age 21 (whichever comes first). the Pap test can detect abnormal cell changes that may possibly lead to cervical cancer.

At The Women's Center we believe in developing trusting relationships with our patients. By doing so we can develop a personal schedule for the tests you need based upon your age, lifestyle, and current health. Together we can develop a plan for a healthier and longer life.
